Introduction and Academic Background

Haruki Murakami is a novelist, author, and best seller in Japan and internationally whose books and novels have been translated into more than 50 languages. The main topic of his writings is loneliness, fear, and being heartbroken. He was born in Kyoto, a city in Japan, in 1949. His father was a teacher of literacy. Western culture and writings influenced him a lot.

He moved toward Tokyo to study at Waseda University literacy, where he met his wife. Her name is Yoko. He opened a Jazz Bar named Peter Cat from 1974 to 1981.

He never dreamed about the writer. By chance, he started writing, and he became successful. He published his first novel named “Hear the Wind Sing” of 200 pages at the age of 29 when he watched a base game. He then entered the competition and won. This motivated him, and he started writing.

A love story, a mystery, a fantasy, a novel of self-discovery, a dystopia to rival George Orwell’s—1Q84 is Haruki Murakami’s most ambitious undertaking yet: an instant bestseller in his native Japan, and a tremendous feat of imagination from one of our most revered contemporary writers.
